These superb patterns, created by one of the principal founders of the British Arts and Crafts Movement, were originally designed for a wide number of uses. The vast majority of them--decorative letters, elaborate floral borders and frames, samples of body type, and delicate woodcut illustrations--first appeared in Morris's
Kelmscott Chaucer. Together with a smaller selection of full-color images, originaaly intended for use in wallpaper, tapestries, tiles, and other domestic accessories, the handsome motifs offer a splendid capsulation of beautiful printing and a vast storehouse of ideas for use by today's commercial artists and craftworkers.
